MAY 2020                                  ELVIS EXPRESS RADIO REPORTS... APRIL 2020
ELVIS WAS ONE OF MANY WHO LENNON MANAGED TO IRK!
The late John Lennon found himself ensnared in controversy more often than not, courtesy of his sharp tongue.

And looking back, it turns out of the numerous celebrities that Lennon managed to irk, musical genius Elvis Presley was also part of that list which also
included Stones lead, Mick Jagger amongst many others.

The revelation was brought to light by author Chris Hutchins who had been a close aide of both the bigwigs.

Harking back to an event in Graceland back in 1965 during The Beatles US tour, Hutchins recalled the band’s meeting with the King.

Therein it was discovered that the King of Rock had been on the opposing ends of Lennon’s anti-war sentiments. “His dislike of the pacifist Lennon
was born from the night I took the Fab Four to his house for their first — and last — meeting,” the writer had told Daily Mail, in a recently unearthed
interview.

“John had annoyed Presley by making his anti-war feelings known the moment he stepped into the massive lounge and spotted the table lamps —
model wagons engraved with the message: ‘All the way with LBJ.’ Lennon hated President Lyndon B Johnson for raising the stakes in the Vietnam
War.”

“Presley allied himself with the FBI director Edgar Hoover and encouraged him to have Lennon thrown out of the US,” he said further.

He was also said to have told his friend Tom Jones, that the Imagine genius “should have been kicked out a long time ago.”

On the other hand, The Beatles press officer Tony Barrow had recalled the same meeting, from a different angle. “John asked what had happened to
the old rock ’n’ roll Elvis, who at that point was mainly singing the soundtracks to his films. He was half-joking but he meant it,” he said, adding that
while Presley shrugged off the comment with a chuckle, the room was filled with a stench of hostility.

MARCH 2020 NEWS REPORTS
STORIES BEHIND THE SONGS VOLUME 2 OUT NOW
We're happy to report to our fellow fans that the 2nd book by Matt Shepherd is now released and available through Redshank Books.

Synopsis:
This second volume begins 60 years ago when Elvis Presley returns from the army, wondering if he still has a career and massive fan base after
being away for two years. He needn't have worried himself, the fans lapped up his new and more ambitious recordings. Songs like It's Now or Never,
Return to Sender and many more sold in their millions proving the King was back!

Although many of Elvis' countless solid gold hits feature in the book, the author is also keen to explore the lesser-known album tracks including the
hugely underrated album Elvis is Back which came out 60 years ago this year (2020).

I hope the reader will look at each song in a different light maybe they will go and play the lesser heard songs and appreciate them in a whole different
way after reading the story behind that particular track. If it further builds on the fans' knowledge about Elvis and brings around a bigger appreciation
of Presley's music then the book will have achieved its purpose.

Matt Shepherd has presented several shows over the years for BBC Local Radio on Elvis Presley, including more than 50 with his good friend Freddy
Zapp on BBC Radio Cornwall. Matt has been an Elvis fan for more than 30 years and has amassed a huge collection of hundreds of records and Elvis
information over the years. He has written Elvis related articles for the BBC News website and Elvis publications. His has also interviewed many of
Elvis' friends over the last few decades including Jerry Schilling, George Klein, Larry Gellar and the late Joe Esposito.
GRACELAND EXTENDS SHUTDOWN PLUS NO GRAVE VISITS ALLOWED
ELVIS PRESLEY home Graceland has extended its shut down, which includes a tragic addition.

Last week, the home of Elvis Presley announced it would be temporarily shutting its gates due to the coronavirus pandemic. But now Graceland have
extended the closure with a planned reopening moved from April 4 to April 20. The second most visited home in the USA after the White House
released a new statement.

And this one included the tragic news that Elvis fans can no longer make a morning walk up to the Meditation Garden of the Memphis, Tennessee
mansion to pay their respects at the King’s grave.

The statement read: “In line with Federal and CDC guidance and with the absolute best interest of our Guests and Staff in mind, Graceland will be
extending its closure through April 19 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This temporary closure includes morning walk-ups to Meditation Garden. “We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as needed.”

It continued: “Please continue to check this page and our social media for updates.

“Graceland tour tickets for March 21 to April 19, 2020, will be automatically extended to use any date within one year of the original tour date.

“Once you are prepared to reschedule your Graceland experience, all you have to do is email us at reservations@graceland.com or give us a call at
901-332-3322 or 1-800-238-2000 with your new date and order number.

“The full value of your original tour ticket will be applied towards your rescheduled tour ticket of equal or greater value.”

The statement added: “Graceland tickets are available for purchase as of April 20, 2020 and beyond.

“From our Graceland Family to yours, we wish everyone around the world health and happiness. “We look forward to welcoming you back to
Graceland soon.”

But just as with the April 4 planned reopening, fans should take April 20 with a pinch of salt when it looks like the Western world could be months away
from returning to normal life.

In the meantime, however, Graceland have been reflecting Elvis’ patriotism by lighting up his home in the red, white and blue of the American flag.

The museum will keep this up for as long as it remains closed.

While Elvis fans can view it for themselves on a live cam found on the official Graceland website
NEW VIDEO FROM INSIDE GRACELAND SHOWS SOME OF ELVIS' FAVOURITE ALBUMS
Graceland may have had to temporarily close due to the Covid-19 virus, but the museum is keeping fans entertained with videos from inside.
The latest sees Director of Archives Angie Marchese broadcasting from the iconic TV room. There she’s been taking fans through the singer’s vinyl
record collection; revealing what he loved to listen to.

The cheerful Angie said: “I thought you guys might wanna see some of the music Elvis would listen to.“Elvis really didn’t like listening to himself but he
loved listening to other artists.”

The Director of Archives then went on to take fans through The King’s record collection.

She began with Dolly Parton’s A Country Girl Goes Home (as shown in image).

Angie pointed out the album featured classic Christian hymn How Great Thou Art was on it. Elvis fans will know the King won two Grammys for that
very track. Next up was Dean Martin’s Welcome To Our World.

The Director of Archives pointed out how the Rat Pack member was a huge influence on Elvis, especially while he was growing up.

Another favourite of The King’s was Mario Lanza.

Angie said how Elvis loved opera and “people who sang with feelings.”

Other highlights in the record collection were George Jones’ I Can Love You Enough and Jack Jones.

While the King’s spiritual vinyl included Sacred Hymns, Lutheran Choir and Wonderful Words of Life by the Laymen Singers.

And his patriotism was reflected in Songs and Stories about the Civil War.

Graceland hoped to reopen on April 4th, but now it's aiming for April 20th. Of course, this could very well be extended again considering the scale of
the coronavirus pandemic across the USA.

Elvis’s home wrote in a statement: “From our Graceland Family to yours, we wish everyone around the world health and happiness. We look forward
to welcoming you back to Graceland soon.”

ANOTHER REPRO TOUR JACKET UP FOR SALE
OK, we've featured many of these "tour jackets" here at the F.B.E.I. and one of the common encounters is the missing label at the collar. You see, this
piece of material is the killer punch that answers the question of real or fake..
CHECK OUT THE F.B.E.I. LISTING
ELVIS' FIRST TRUE BILLBOARD NUMBER ONE WHICH MANY FORGET TO REMEMBER?
When 20 year old Elvis Presley entered the Memphis Sun records studio on July 11, 1955, he had a couple of new items. His backing band members
Scotty Moore and Bill Black were joined for the first time by drummer Johnny Bernero. Elvis also had a new tune to record,
"I Forgot to Remember
to Forget,"
but he felt it might be too "country" sounding --hence the addition of a drummer.

Elvis and the boys had recorded four tunes leading up to the July '55 session. Although they got some airplay throughout the southern US, none
made the national pop or country charts.

When
"I Forgot to Remember to Forget" was released nationally in August of '55, it took off and started getting real airplay. Maybe it was the fact
that Scotty Moore's electric guitar sounded close to a steel guitar, or maybe it was Elvis' knockout performance on radio's Louisiana Hayride; but by
February 1956, the song that Elvis tried so hard to keep from being too country was the number one tune on the USA's National Country Chart and
remained there at #1 for 2 weeks, and spent 5 weeks at #1 on the Billboard C&W Most Played in Juke Boxes chart.

The record reached #4 on the Billboard Most Played by Jockeys chart.

It was the first recording to make Elvis Presley a nationally-known country music star. The song remained on the country charts for 39 weeks. The flip
side of this release,
"Mystery Train", peaked at the #11 position on the national Billboard Country Chart

On February 22, 1955 as
"I Forgot to Remember to Forget" spent it's 2nd week at # 1 on the Billboard Country Chart, "Heartbreak Hotel"
entered the Billboard pop chart at # 68, and the Country Chart at # 9. Within two months,
"Heartbreak Hotel" reached number one on both charts.

It also made top five on the R&B chart, the first Presley single to chart there. This resulted in
"Heartbreak Hotel" becoming only the second single in
history to reach all three Billboard charts.
GUY HARRIS, ELVIS' TUPELO CHILDHOOD FRIEND PASSES AWAY
Longtime Childhood friend of Elvis Presley, Guy Harris, who spent years sharing his personal memories of the King of Rock `n’ Roll has died at 81.

Harris died on Monday (6th). He was also a historian at the Elvis Presley Birthplace in Tupelo.

Harris never turned down an opportunity to talk about his friend, Elvis.

Mayor Jason Shelton said, "We are all deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend Mr. Guy Harris. As a lifelong friend of Elvis Presley, his insight
was invaluable at the Birthplace here in Tupelo. We will greatly miss his stories as told to Elvis fans from all over the world right here
where it all began."

Harris was also a retired Tupelo Police captain.
NOVELTY RECORD RELEASE, A PICTURE  OF YOURSELF ON AN ELVIS PICTURE DISC
The 'Memphis Mansion' in Denmark is planning to release an exclusive picture disc for fans of the venue to help support the business during this time

'Home Is Where The Heart Is'  is available for Pre-Order (Release Date TBA) and will be a picture disc of (at this time) an unknown number of
songs, which a fan can have their very own photo on the album itself.

There are 3 options that fans can choice from £30.00 up to £83.00

'HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS' (we assume it will be a 12" Picture Disc)

This option gives you the opportunity to get YOUR picture (or someone elses, you decide) on an Elvis vinyl release released by Memphis Mansion.

We have to say that we're a little confused about Options 2? It states "Your picture on the picture disc" but at the end it states "THIS IS WITHOUT THE
VINYL" so we take that to me £59.00 will get your photo and your name on the Vinyl and booklet but you don't actually get the product?  Is that what
that means????

Whatever it may be you can Pre-Order your own Options via a link above with each description.

SIGNED GUITAR MAN 45?
11 years ago we started the F.B.E.I to help out any fans by highlighting what's fake and what's overpriced with all things Elvis in the collecting World.

We've shone the spotlight on fake jumpsuits, fake concert jackets, fake acetates, crazy claims and much more. But what comes up more then any
other, is Elvis autographs.

And our latest edition is one of the funniest attempts at selling a 100% totally FAKE autograph. Some people might say, how can you be so sure it's
not real? I can tell you not only it's not real, but I can say with absolute certainty that the person who first ever put it into circulation knew it was fake.

Why? Well the 45 that Elvis is said to have signed was released in 1981. Yep, the person who tried to fake Elvis' signature is soooooooo stupid, they
chose one of the most famous post-death Elvis 45 releases to carry out their fraudulent scheme to steal money from some unsuspecting, relatively
new fan.

ELVIS 1960 - MARCH 7 TO MARCH 31
Paul Belard has his next book in his continuing series of photo books and this time it focuses on Elvis' returned to Memphis after two years in the Army
on March 7, 1960. On the 9th, he received a combination radio-television set from RCA as a gift. It was presented to him for the sale of 50 million
records from 1956 to 1960.

On the 20th, he left for Nashville for his first recording session in almost two years. That session was so well guarded that, so far, not a single picture
of the actual session has surfaced..

SIGNAL FROM DEEP SPACE PERFECTLY HARMONISE WITH ELVIS CLASSIC
The physicists at the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) detected more gravitational waves. And this time, they say, the
waves resonate at the perfect frequency to harmonise with one of Elvis' biggest hits.

The waves formed a perfect fifth, Science Magazine reports, meaning they sync with the opening notes of Elvis’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

The two notes are a particularly unusual pairing for gravitational waves, the LIGO researchers say — but one that could help them understand how
black holes form in the first place.

Scientists detected the waves last April, but only just presented their analysis at this month’s online American Physical Society meeting and are now
awaiting academic publishing, Science reports.

When a pair of orbiting black holes creates gravitational waves, they usually emanate at a single frequency. Picking up two notes suggests one black
hole is significantly more massive than the other, which raises the question of how the two came together to form a binary system in the first place.

The scientists are considering two ideas: that the black holes originated from two stars that were already orbiting each other and then collapsed, or
that the two black holes happened to travel near each other after forming independently, Science reports.

But they do know that the bizarre resonance matches not only Elvis’ music, but also Einstein’s predictions for how such a pair of black holes would
behave.

“Einstein prevails again,” LIGO physicist Maximiliano Isi told Science.
UPSTAIRS AT GRACELAND, SECRETS REVEALED
In this weeks edition of the 'Elvis Express Radio Internet Show', Lee and Joe spoke about the current series of Graceland video's presented by head
of archives, Angie Marchese, and Lee brought up that due to the shut down, how about Angie bringing us a video of the upstairs?

NOT the bathroom where Elvis died, but why not a little look at Elvis' Bedroom, Office, Dressing Room and maybe Lisa's Room?  After all, EPE were
happy to allow film camera's into the "Private Area" when Warner Brothers paid up to be able to film 'This Is Elvis' in the early 1980s.

Well, during the latest Graceland video tour with Angie Marchese she shared with fans some of the "secrets" about the off-limits upstairs.

Just like other museums, Graceland has been temporarily shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, the Memphis mansion museum
have been broadcasting videos from inside to keep fans entertained. The latest was a live Q&A through the house, with access into areas that fans
cannot step into on the Graceland tour.

Near the beginning of the video, Angie is standing at the front of Graceland in the foyer, right by the staircase leading upstairs.

Some fans asked in the comments: “Can we see upstairs?”

While others added....
“Are you allowed to go upstairs?
Does it look the same as it looked when Elvis was here?”

Angie said: “So the one thing about Graceland and its mystique is the upstairs and the fact that it was Elvis’ private. But Angie caused many fans to
hold their breath when she sai, “So no one is allowed to go upstairs. Well, because we’re on Instagram live…..“We’re still not allowed to go upstairs,
sorry.” she teased!

However, Angie did reveal a few secrets for fans, since she does get to go upstairs at Graceland as part of her job.

She said: “It looks as if Elvis just got up and left.” - Which is strange because the last we heard, the bed was all that remained in Elvis Bedroom that
was original? But then again, maybe not???

While on the bedroom, the archivist added: “The bed is made, so we really maintain it the way that Lisa wants us to preserve it.

“So, unfortunately, we can’t see it, but it is taken care of.”

Later on in the video, her camera person pointed out the stairs near the kitchen.

Angie revealed: “These stairs here actually lead up to the main landing, which would take you to Elvis’ bedroom.

She added: “And this is how Elvis would come down to the kitchen.

“He would come down these stairs and come and make himself at home here in the kitchen.”

As it stands Graceland is set to reopen to the public on May 1.

However, the temporary closure could well be extended due to the lockdown across the US.
DICK GROB HAS DIED
We are sad to report that Richard “Dick” Grob, one of Elvis' long serving bodyguards passed away on April 22, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He passed peacefully at home, knowing he was immensely loved and surrounded by family.

His loving wife, Melissa made the following statement via her Facebook account:

"Given current events, a small ceremony restricted to immediate family will be held. At a later date, we will announce a larger ceremony of life to
celebrate his remarkable journey here on earth with the family and friends he loved so dearly."

She continued, "Thank you for your prayers and support. At this time, we ask that you please respect our privacy as we work through this difficult time
together as a family."

Rest in Peace Dick, and I'm sure you will have already met up with Elvis and the gang and are going to have one fantastic time as you TCB.

Here we include a few photos of Dick and his time with Elvis.
