It's a claim that's not new, Elvis committed suicide on August 16th 1977? But what makes this time round more of a buzz with fans and the worlds media is the claim is now apparently
being fuelled by Priscilla. The following article has so far (what we have seen) been reprinted in newspapers in the UK, Canada, India and South Africa.

Take a read and we'd love to hear from you on this matter for inclusion on our next show.

Depressed Elvis killed himself, his ex-wife says: Priscilla, 72, claims he 'knew what he was doing' when he died from
drug-related heart attack - as family say suicide notes prove the King took his own life

Priscilla Presley says Elvis 'knew what he was doing' when he suddenly died

The rock 'n' roll legend died of a drug-related heart attack aged 42 in 1977

Priscilla, 72, claims she and loved ones had failed to try to wean him off drugs

Her admission comes after two 'suicide' notes were discovered in December

The former wife of rock legend Elvis Presley is claiming the iconic performer committed suicide when he died of a drug-related heart attack.

Priscilla Presley, 72, says on HBO’s new documentary, Elvis Presley: The Searcher, that the King wouldn’t bow to anyone.

“You did not tell Elvis Presley what to do. You did not,” she said, adding that loved ones and members of his entourage tried to get him off drugs.

The Suspicious Minds singer would have none of it.

Last year, former New York Post columnist Steve Dunleavy, who wrote infamous Presley tell-all, Elvis: What Happened. told the Toronto Sun the rock star was a master at mixing

“People go, ‘Well, why didn’t anyone do anything?’ Well, that’s not true,” Priscilla said, confirming Dunleavy’s version. “I mean, you’d be out of there faster than a scratched cat.
They would try and no way.”

Elvis tragically died at his Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tenn., on Aug. 16, 1977. He was just 42.

Priscilla said the root of Elvis’ desperate addiction was his stint in the U.S. Army.

He and Priscilla had married in 1967 and they welcomed their daughter Lisa Marie the following year.

They divorced in 1973 but Priscilla remained the rock ‘n’ roll star’s beneficiary when he died. As the head of Elvis Presley Enterprises, she turned Graceland into one of the top
tourist attractions in America.

Priscilla blames her ex-husband’s addiction on his brief stint in the US Army.

“They gave them (drugs) to the soldiers over there to keep them awake. He had manoeuvres that he had to do late at night, so the pills were given to the guys and that’s how he
started,” she told the documentary makers.

“And if you take a sleeping pill, you have to do something to get yourself awake. He was in uncharted territory, he truly was, and he did this and tried to do this alone.”

But it isn’t the first time whispers have emerged that the beloved singer may have orchestrated his own demise.

In December, “suicide” notes allegedly written by Elvis emerged. They were to his longtime pal and road manager Joe Esposito.

One note only hinted at his depression: “I’m sick and tired of my life. I need a long rest.”

And he was humiliated by the fact he couldn’t get clean and called losing Priscilla (they divorced in 1973) “the greatest mistake of my life”.

His step-brother, Rick Stanley, told Radar Online: “The handwritten note appears to be genuine. To me, it’s a clear indication that suicide was on his mind.”
