A few days ago, we published an article featured in the UK newspaper, The Daily Mail titled THE REAL REASON ELVIS NEVER TOURED BRITAIN which was written by Phillip
Norman, who has penned an all new Musical launching in the UK in February.

The article was a great way for Norman to secure some publicity for his new musical,
"THIS IS ELVIS...BURBANK AND VEGAS". However, before we get into what the new musical
will focus on, there were a few points made by Norman within his article that we here at Elvis Express Radio had to raise issue with.

While describing the mood and atmosphere surrounding Elvis and his 1968 TV Special, Norman wrote;
"As the minutes ticked away to transmission time, he had to fight a repeated
urge to jump into his limo and flee to the safety of his mansion, Graceland, in Memphis, Tennessee."
 Transmission time would never arrive for Elvis because the show was being
filmed in June 1968 to be used within the final special to be aired in December. Also, the urge to flee would have been a very, very long limo ride to safety. Graceland is in Memphis
but Elvis was in Burbank.

Pointing out that you don't have to like Rock to love Elvis, Norman wrote;
"The now traditional Christmas CD of his vocal tracks overdubbed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
sold a million in 2015 (?) and the latest one seems on course to do the same."
There was NO overdubbed Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Christmas album in 2015. The most recent
'Christmas' album with Elvis and The RPO was the first festive offering.

And finally, but really rather extremely important, the readers are told,
"The spine-tingling finale of his act was American Trilogy..." X X X WRONG! Come on now, Elvis never closed a
live performance with
'An American Trilogy', no matter how much we or in fact his orchestra conductor Joe Guercio wished he would. Actually, Elvis would close out his live concert
performances with 'Can't Help Falling In Love' - except for a handful of shows which Elvis closed with the superb number,
'The Impossible Dream'.

What disappoints is the fact that all 3 of these cock ups are sloppy because each one is easily researched and should never have been made in the first place.

BUT, the man behind the article is the writer of the NEW UK stage musical - THIS IS ELVIS...BURBANK AND VEGAS and what follows is what we are told to expect....

This Is Elvis Overview
Internationally renowned, award winning Steve Michaels stars as Elvis. His masterful renditions of The King and his music have garnered him worldwide fame, and appearances
alongside the extraordinary Jordanaires and the Sweet Inspirations as well as Elvis’s legendary drummer DJ Fontana and bassist Jerry Scheff.

It’s 1968 – the major musical event of the year is the first live TV special for Elvis Presley in what would come to be known as The ’68 Comeback Special. Drawing phenomenal
ratings, this event re-establishes Elvis as the major entertainment star of the decade, and twelve months later Elvis stars at the International Hotel in Vegas, performing live for the
first time in seven years, and securing his place in history as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll!  This production celebrates 50 years since the TV phenomenon and is testament that his
songs live on and the King still rules!

This Is Elvis recreates all the drama leading up to the comeback as well as staging the monumental concert. It then proceeds with the King to his Vegas debut. Featuring Elvis’s
greatest hits including Trouble, Heartbreak Hotel, Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog, Love Me Tender, All Shook Up, Suspicious Minds and many more...
