Today the door bell rings, I hear my wife, Lana, open the door and takes delivery of a parcel. She comes walking into the living room holding a large and heavy parcel, "what have
you ordered? Whatever it is, it's very heavy? I'm thinking to myself, I'm waiting for a CD I bought on Ebay but I'm sure as heck not expecting anything that weighs what this one

Running E.E.R, I do get various Elvis products sent to me to review etc, so I was very eager to see what was waiiting for me inside? Now imagine how shocked and excited I was to
find upon opening the box, this gorgeous full length colour photo of Elvis in a classic stance wearing his Blue Nail Studded suit. I recognise it right away from the news item I had
published a week or so ago.

Of course, it was the new release
'ELVIS ON TOUR: The 45th Anniversary Deluxe Edition' from the Amiga International label, this is a huge, cool looking boxset.

Housed in a 13inch heavy cardboard box is a hardback book containing 130 pages and 9 CDs containing everything (recording wise) we know of and while there is just way too
much to carry out a full review for you, I hope I can give you enough information to let you know if it is as amazing as it looks? I've taken some snaps with my phone for you to take
a look at what this set looks like.

This is what Sony Music should have done by now, in fact, if you have the 2014 8 CD / 2 DVD set,
'Thats The Way It Is - Deluxe Edition' then this is a perfect addition, except
with this import release, Amiga Int have beefed up the packaging. This set is bigger than the TTWII release, as a matter of fact I think it's better quality than the TTWII box.

As you can see from the images above, the 8 CDs which includes the rehearsals and live shows are all housed in the same style slide-in slots as the TTWII set with 4 discs housed
on the inside front and back hard covers of the book. The 9th disc is a bonus that contains the interviews with Elvis, Vernon and George Klein. A word of warning, be very careful
with this interview disc, it's housed in a plastic envelope attached to the last page of the book and where the plastic stuck to the disc, there's a risk that the page could rip if your
not too careful.

However, before we get to the contents of the CDs, I just have to applaud the folks at Amiga International, the packaging really is fantastic, it looks magnificent. The photo's used of
Elvis on both the outer hard box and the one on the book is just as superb.

With so much material, 169 tracks in total, I just have to play one skip a few, play one skip a few and so on...

The first 4 discs are the rehearsals and while we have these in very good quality already, these newly remastered recordings sound fresh to my ears, I like them and look forward
to airing some on the show.

What I will say about these rehearsals, disc 4 contains the Rehearsal in Buffalo, NY held at the “The Rendezvous Club“ at the Hilton Statler Hotel, April 5, 1972.. This is one part of
the Elvis On Tour recordings that has been neglected and one that I myself have not heard much over the years. The rehearsals do suffer with moments of interference and bouts
of distortion but the quality becomes good and we get a few interesting recordings which again, to my ears sound great and actually better than the same performances released
by FTD.

One of the highlights has to be the 3 rehearsal recordings which up until this package have yet to see a releases either officially or unofficially and all 3 sound pretty good.
Hound Dog is first and is the cool Blues to Rockin' version Elvis did around this time. Bridge Over Troubled Water is a very good performance and A Big Hunk O' Love is a
good paced performance.

And then we move on to discs 5 - 8 and it's Elvis On Tour, Live in Concert and we kick off the concerts with Hampton Roads, Virginia. This is probably the most common of shows
from the movie and has been issued many times over the years but here I have to say, the producers at Amiga have done great because the sound on this show really Kicks Ass.
Turn the volume up on this and watch the walls shake.

My only complaint, actually complaint is wrong. My disappointment is that just as with previous releases of this concert, it remains incomplete thanks to still not coming across the
nights performance of the excellent song, 'Never Been To Spain'.

I've already kind of covered the exterior of the book at the start of this look at Amiga Internationals monster box release, 'ELVIS ON TOUR: Deluxe Edition'. But I must say again
how fantastic this set is.

Being such a large design is fantastic, the photos used for the box and the book itself are beautiful, but inside the book things just get better and better. The whole set is perfect
and the hundreds of photo's, including many that I personally have never seen before.

The quality of the images in the book are truly superb and include many unseen photos which will have you going back to this set again and again.

If you are a Jumpsuit Junkie then this set really is for you. The high quality images used and the huge size of many of the pictures gives you a great opportunity to see these
beautiful stage outfits in amazing detail.

The book is made up of 6 chapters which takes us through the story of Elvis On Tour

The Introduction
The RCA mock Session and Rehearsal
The Buffalo rehearsal
Elvis On Tour ( the concert photos & reviews etc)
Interview with John Wilkinson
Tour Map & details

If you get a chance to pick up a copy of this set then it's a must have. There has been a lot of talk about why bother as we have all this before (except the 3 unreleased rehearsals
from April 5th), and I also thought this, but now that I have actually heard these recordings and seen the book, my opinion has changed. This set looks and sounds fantastic and I
must say a huge bravo to the folks at Amiga International for a job well done and for showing the powers that be, how this neglected part of Elvis history should be treated.
