This marks the 34th year of the Elvis 5k. The annual event begins at the gates of Graceland and takes runners through the streets of Whitehaven.

The event is part of a week of a celebration each year in August honoring the passing of Elvis Presley on August 16, 1977. The event brings together hundreds of runners from
around the Mid-South, the country, and the world. Many runners dress in Elvis costumes, don his notorious dark gold or silver rimmed glasses, or sport some form of his famous
pork chop sideburns.

It's all in fun and makes for a wonderful sight as the crowd makes its way through the Whitehaven route. The run is followed by a huge after party featuring Elvis tunes and some of
the King's favorite foods, including Krispy Kreme Donuts.

The benefactor of the amazing event is Livitup, Inc., a local organization dedicated to advancing the independence and productivity of people with various types of disabilities.
Livitup, Inc was founded in 1980 with a commitment to change and progress for people with disabilities and their families.

This year's Elvis 5k will take place Saturday, August 13, at 8 a.m. There is still time to register for the event by clicking here, or you can register the day of the event. It's fun for
runners and spectators alike so make plans to go to Graceland Saturday morning for some fun and a great cause.
