|MORE GOLD AND PLATINUM FOR ELVIS
March 11, 2016 - Brian Quinn / Elvis Express Radio
While Elvis has been collecting Gold and Multi-Platinum Awards for the album, 'If I Can Dream' with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the UK and around the World, EER'S Roving
Reporter, Brian Quinn brings us some great news from the USA where The Recording Industry Association of America (R.I.A.A.) has or is about to give new sales awards to Elvis.
'The Essential Elvis' (double album) has been upgraded by the R.I.A.A. to Platinum status. In doing so it has made Elvis and Garth Brooks tied for the amount of albums sold in
the U.S.A. (according to R.I.A.A. rules) with 136 million each. However, Elvis is still awaiting for the following to be certified/upgraded which would give him 137 million sales:
1. 'An Afternoon In The Garden' has sold 536,136 units (Soundscan) as of w/e 6th April, 2013 thereby making it eligible for a new GOLD Award.
2. 'Elvis 'Christmas Duets' has sold 510,085 units (Soundscan) as of w/e 12th January, 2013 thereby making it eligible for a new GOLD Award.
A video upgrade is also overdue:
'He Touched Me' (Volume 1) (Video Longform) has sold 218,102 units (Soundscan) as of w/e 6th April, 2013 making it eligible for an upgrade from Platinum to 2 X Multi-Platinum.
