IF your hair is “all shook up” perhaps it is time to rock down to Marrickville’s new men’s salon Memphis & Co.

Long-time hair stylist, singer and Elvis Presley fan Dom Vasta recently opened the salon.

He is ready to style a signature quiff for anyone looking for that swept back pompadour effect.

He and his wife Alessandra officially launched the salon on Wednesday night — the same day 60 years ago that Elvis released his single Heartbreak Hotel.

“Elvis is my idol and he came from Memphis,” Mr Vasta said about the salon’s name.

“The ‘& Co’ is all his peers, such as BB King and Jimmy Hendrix.”

Mr Vasta, a professional singer, and his wife Alessandra have decorated the salon with Elvis posters, a candelabra and oversized mirrors.

Taking pride of place is a 100-year-old barber’s Chicago chair which came from the old Sydney Gowings building.

It did the rounds in Sydney salons before a friend passed it on to the couple.

An Elvis fan since he was a boy, Mr Vasta, 48, has enjoyed singing professionally on the weekends and working weekdays cutting hair in Sydney salons and overseas.

But when he shared his dream of owning an Elvis-themed salon with his wife, she was on to it like a hound dog.

She used her design background to come up with the look.

The Vastas have put all their Elvis energy into making the project a success, and the curtain has gone up, so ... it’s now or never!
