Twitter is awash with praise for Joanna Lumley’s ‘heartfelt’ one-off Elvis And Me documentary.

Elvis Presley would have been 80 years old this year and Lumley expresses her disappointment at never being able to meet him.

She interviews his widow Priscilla Presley and takes a tour of his Graceland home – as well as exploring his rise to fame as Lumley is ‘not so interested in the later years’.

And those watching couldn’t help falling in love with the King again.

WOW @JoannaLumley #elvisandme was so captivating that one hour just wasn't enough. That programme should have been made into a mini series.

Kellie Glanvill
@JoannaLumley always brings such heartfelt emotion to her shows what a moving tribute to the much loved King #elvisandme

Valerie Hill
Really enjoyed all the personal anecdotes on the superb documentary #elvisandme with @JoannaLumley - a marvellous insight

Lumley also revealed the fact she used Elvis’ famous lip curl in her portrayal of Patsy in Ab Fab.

On the Elvis forum, the FECC, which has no shortage of fierce critics, fans were very pleased with this brand new documentary, even calling it "one of the very best Elvis TV shows
I've ever seen". Here are more fan reactions....

How lovely was that.

that has to be the nicest programme on Elvis I've ever seen - beautiful work ITV

Great programme!! I really enjoyed it.

Fabulous, Loved those stories about Elvis ignoring the racial divide laws that existed to play with his friends and church and his politeness. This i agree is the nicest program about
Elvis that i have ever seen.
Love him even more now.
And i am now even more certain that God put Elvis on earth for a reason and Elvis was concieved by Gladys just as Hitler consolidated power.
Sorry to go on, but that program was just so good.

Best thing I've seen about Elvis on TV for a long time.

This documentary was a fantastic addition to the Elvis library and has done a great service in showing it's viewers the Elvis that is rarely shown and focused on. We can only hope
that ITV / EPE and SONNY can work together more in seeing an extended version released onto DVD / Blu-Ray with all that extra footage that never made it onto the final cut.
